Year 2009 - Thematic Calendar
Srimad Bhagavatam
This year, as usual, your trust has brought out a useful calendar with beautiful pictures and write up explaining every canto of Srimad Bhagavata Maha puranam.
As we all know, when Sri Krishna was departing this material world, His intimate devotee Uddava lamented fearing separation. Sri Krishna revealed about the equally glorious alternate to Him, Srimad Bhagavata Mahapuranam, in which He would reside in future.
So to the devotees of the Lord, He glances, smiles and hugs through the warm and devout slokas of Bhagavatam.
As this puranam is large comprising of 18000 slokas, with lots of historical happenings and pouranic links, your trust has brought out a 12 page calendar carrying the essence of each canto.
Details of the calendar
The amazing scheme and lucid write up is authored by Velukkudi Sri U Ve Krishnan Swamy. The beautiful design, painting and layout are done by Sri Vijaya Govinda Das.
The calendar is printed in 12 pages (6 sheets) of 170 gsm art paper. The calendar is big enough sizing 22" x 17" .
Each sheet carries the important portions of one canto with eye catching pictures visually depicting the theme and the write up explaining its significance. Each sheet also carries useful weekly tips drawn from each canto for us to follow in daily life.
It also carries a big chart picturising the family tree of Brahma which is very useful to remember various pouranic dynasties.
The date sheet portion is designed with all regular information from the almanac and reminder for all the annual birth days (tirunakshatrams) of azhvars and acharyas and important festivals in divya desams.
The calendar is spiral bound for easy hanging and flipping.
A Bonus
To our pleasant surprise, a Mp3 audio CD containing 15 hours of discourse on Srimad Bhagavatam (saptaham) by Velukkudi Sri U Ve Krishnan Swamy comes as a compliment with this calendar, so that we can appreciate and enjoy the content much better.
